About

A large hotel spa in the mountain village of Cademario in Ticino, with wide views and day entry by reservation. The textile-free sauna area has Finnish and bio saunas, a hammam and a steam bath, with a cold plunge and ice fountain, plus an indoor pool.

Facilities

Saunas and steam

  • Finnish sauna
    The classic dry sauna, usually 80–100 °C.
  • Bio sauna
    A gentler sauna of about 50–60 °C with more humidity, also called sanarium.
  • Steam bath
    Around 45 °C with nearly 100 % humidity.
  • Hammam (Turkish or Moroccan bath ritual)
    The traditional ritual in stages: warm rooms or a heated marble slab, a body scrub with a kessa glove and a soap-foam wash, then rest.

Cooling down

  • Cold plunge (under 20 °C)
    A small pool of cold water, below 20 °C, to dip into after the heat.
  • Cold bucket shower or waterfall
    A gush of cold water from above, or a bucket you tip over yourself.
  • Rain and mood showers
    Warm showers with changing temperature, light, scent or rain patterns.
  • Ice fountain
    Crushed ice to rub on your skin after the sauna.

Pools and baths

  • Whirlpool or jacuzzi
    A warm pool with jets of air and water bubbling around you, usually for several people.
  • Indoor pool
    An indoor pool to relax or swim in.
  • Outdoor pool (seasonal)
    An outdoor pool open in the warmer months only.
  • Water massage (jets and neck showers)
    Underwater jets and strong streams of water that massage your neck, back or feet.
  • Bubble loungers
    Loungers under the water surface with bubbles rising from below.
